Both. Core is probably 50% less painful but it does some weird stuff sometimes including GC problems and a wonderful issue we have where it just does an exit(0) intermittently.

I’m hedging my bets on lots of small bits of well decoupled and well designed Go with micro frontends in JS sitting on top of Kubernetes. It sits in the niche area of being typed, quite fast, light weight, reliable, fast startup, decent too

This. I have to support it in production among other platforms. It’s painful to reverse engineer the stack every time something goes bang which is often and usually something utterly obscure. It also has a much higher amount of hands on wor

I regularly zip in and out of London UK at rush hour on trains and tubes rammed with people with wireless earbuds, mostly AirPods. No problems. As stated the only time I had a problem was standing next to an extremely large diesel backup ge

All the UK banks used to do this about 12 ish years ago. No longer. What they do try and do is shove Rapport down your throat instead.

Been using 2nd gen AirPods since they came out. Never had any connection reliability issues at all. They switch between my phone and iPad all the time as well. No glitches at all here other than one time I was walking past a large diesel ge

I’ve got a 18 year old pair of HD25’s. They are indeed excellent. On their third cable and ear pads now. But quite frankly I don’t use them any more. Switched to AirPods (2nd gen). They are absolutely no good for pro audio due to the latenc

I’m running a 256Gb mini. I have 100Gb free. That includes 25 years of carefully curated photos and videos. Depends what you do with it and how wasteful you are with storage.

Yes. This is why I charge by the hour adhoc when I have to deal with windows. I can’t estimate all the weird ass problems in my initial quote.

No it got bid up that high. Until sometime gets that cash it didn’t sell. My sister reached a higher value when I tried to sell her as a prank back in 2005 and I didn’t get paid. As for USB-C I’ve got lightning everything still which was ar

Yep same. When I had w3wp crashing 50 times a day with half an async stack somewhere inside the .Net framework several continuations after I did something stupid. Sleep well .Net developers :)

It’s a pain with GC as well, coming from a C# background. It’s incredibly easy to write something that intermittently doesn’t work in weird and impossible to debug ways.

Also rebuilding the same docker containers 500 times a day… We could do a whole lot better with our energy usage across the whole industry.

The differentiator for macOS versus Windows is the Apple stuff actually works properly and doesn't get in my way at all. I really don't give a shit any more if it costs 2x as much or isn't repairable or the or that because th

If it's anything like when I've tried to get them to do anything about a support case, I suspect no one gives a fuck about the customers any more unless they're big spenders. Everyone else is seen as a revenue drain. To MSFT

Indeed. After 20 years of doing this I eventually learned to just pay out for whoever is currently hurting me the least, not the best option, because there isn't one. Apple is currently hurting me the least.

I get that on my fairly high end Windows 10 laptop. I resort to rebooting it nightly. Windows Defender does like to go completely nuts occasionally as well. I've got to complain though. I spend more time pissing around working around i

Yes and no. I suspect the main feature this is used for is the start menu search feature to push traffic to bing. This appears to be unavoidable and really pisses me off on a regular basis. I can’t think of another reason in the windows UI

It bugs me that this is clearly intentional. The people who thought this up, implemented it, QA’ed it and approved as well as their entire hierarchy up to Nadella are complicit with monopolistic practices again. Why am I not surprised. Empe
