The GDAX servers are hosted on AWS. Us-East-1 if i remember correctly. This allows anyone to have basically free colocation. So not sure why they give colocation as a selling point here

Facebook attempts to prevent “likejacking” by sometimes asking the user to verify they intended to really like that page. If they see that most people do not confirm this then they ban your like button/page. So taking facebook’s exampl

Why are you even using Facebook at this point? Your putting this much effort into “confusing” Facebook yet you still share images of you and your wife. I don’t understand.

This posts' author is fantastic. Breaks things down and explains everything very nicely.

Ofcourse they do. On one hand it’s absolutely surprising that such a piece is considered “news” but on the other hand at least the general public (not just people in CS) are paying more attention to their privacy. But in this case I think i

So AlphaGo Zero used 4 TPUs while AlphaZero used 1500. It’s not immediately obvious to me why there is this massive difference. Can anyone elaborate?

I haven't read the paper yet but "AlphaGo Zero only uses the black and white stones from the Go board as its input, whereas previous versions of AlphaGo included a small number of hand-engineered features." This sound super g

Of course it's a good move. Millions watched AlphaGo, many of whom have never played Go before. Millions, almost every single gamer will watch AI vs Dota that will be amazing marketing for Valve.

It is extremely difficult. 1v1 is like beating humans at chess. 5v5 is like beating humans at Go. That's the kind of jump it is.

5v5 is much more complex than 1v1 gameplay, it's not as simple as taking the current AI and making 5 of it.

Maybe a bit difficult to do so because of the limited amount of data, but we could maybe only look at the tweets with positive sentiment, in which case the stock price will likely go up. As it is good publicity for the company and Trump was

I think Nordstrom stock went up after a negative tweet because it was seen as good publicity for the company. Trump didn't actually "threaten" to retaliate or anything, whereas for companies like Ford or GM he actually said h

I completely disagree. Backtesting matters, especially in HFT. What would you rather have: an algorithm that has performed well on 5 years worth of historical data or one that has performed well in the past 2 weeks.
