I've never really had any of the issues that is mentioned in the bullet points. I use the Atlassian post on storing dotfiles [1] for several years now. * It's easy to setup on a new machine, no creating symlinks on every setup * I

This seems like it would be more useful as an Android app you can side load rather than a rust app. If I am understanding correctly, I would need a mobile device? Would this work using the phone as a hotspot? If so, then I guess my previous

Apple is going to see an increase in MacBook Pro hinges breaking from people trying to play the Star Trek theme in theremin mode or other songs with other instrument sounds. Apple: How did the hinge break? Customer: I don’t know, I just ope

It’s interesting because on the posted site there’s only 2 AWS posts on the main page and they’re rather mild compared to the other posts using google, vercel, cloudformation, etc.

Wind generation is king, apparently. I'm curious what the imports consist of, presumably natural gas but it's not indicated; however it doesn't seem to have that big of a reliance.

It's not as easy to implement as it is in javascript though. If someone has it already implemented, like say in FastAPI, then it's pretty trivial to use but to just use async is kind of a pain.

I feel like if you're going to have an example that presumably works, it should be value instead of placeholder or at least default the request to whatever is in the placeholder input if you click submit.

Technically, you could swap Eloquent for Doctrine which would solve the database issues but Laravel was built around using Eloquent and vice-versa, there’s very little documentation for using doctrine with laravel or using eloquent with sym

IMO, Symfony pushed for [better] standards and using a dependency manager are a couple of things. Drupal took their time but finally started using composer and a lot of their components were Symfony components. Wordpress just held their gro

It's probably not related to the speed and I am not entirely certain how Github stores the repository but I noticed Gitlab does something weird to the bare repository so it's not directly usable as a bare repository. Gitea is an e

Embedding gists and not fully implementing using dark or light mode annoys me. It's there but it just always has the theme set to light with no way to override the value. At the very least, I wish they set it to auto.

That’s really cool for you but for your wife, I would find something simpler. What happens if you’re not around and that all breaks and she cannot get content published? At the very least, assuming you want to keep it somewhat techy, I woul

Initially, this will be used exactly as intended and therefore seen as good. After about ~10 years it will include other "objectionable" material and a good case will be made for it so most people will not necessarily realize it.

Pretty much yeah. I think you need to stay somewhat vigilant because it can creep in under the guise of validating data. Triggers is something I was thinking about that is grossly misused.

You should be careful with how much you lean into “doing it in the database” as well with how you implement it. Lest, you get the situation where your application inserts as one value and it gets saved completely different.

I would add a caveat... Don't ever implement good-enough-for-now APIs without a plan to come back and fix it and a deadline to fix it Most of the time "good-enough-for-now" really is just "good-enough-forever".
