I don’t believe that is entirely accurate. I believe it depends on the application and what you’re doing with it whether or not you would be required to open source it. Like, if you’re distributing the application as a product, not necessar

I agree but "moderation" isn't the best word. OOP is good when used appropriately and not when you fixate that everything has to be within the OOP structure. It's the same thing with languages, IMO. People try to shoehor

I usually end up piping the result to a file so I can see it and edit if I need to and cat | pbcopy the file contents to the clipboard and save it in 1password. After that, 1password either fills in the password for me or copying it is just

Nobody will probably like it but I just use pwgen to generate passwords now and store it in 1Password since Keychain removed the memorable password option. pwgen: aliased to pwgen --ambiguous --capitalize --numerals --symbols --secure

I liked the previous password generation in Keychain when you chose memorable password. It would be two words with a couple of numbers and/or symbols in between. That option isn't available anymore though. I use 1Password to store

Well, yeah but also at this time Linux had not even been around half a decade. My thought was more that maybe a lot of the issues people are having with Linux to push them to BSD is what we, developers collectively, have done to Linux over

I hope it works out, it looks nice but we’re almost over saturated with image hosting options. I feel like a better option would be creating an open source project of the application managing the images. With it doing something unique to it

Unix isn't necessarily or inherently free or open source? That was part of the reason Linus Torvalds created Linux?

I use Laravel at work. It’s not as bad as I thought it would be. I like Symfony better. It’s also just about a Rails clone for PHP.

You could put them all in Secrets Manager or Parameter Store, whichever is appropriate for the secret, then have your CI process fetch the secrets and setup your environment. That way, developing locally does not depend on access to AWS Sec

As a markup language I think it's getting more complex but there's a lot more functionality that makes it a lot easier to do things with it. Knowing when to use what functionality can be overwhelming and seem complex though. There

I know this is said a lot about things people don't like or think doesn't scale but I think I a lot of people don't set it up and use properly and it doesn't scale doing their half-baked implementation.

Why do people use gzip more often than bzip? There must be some benefit but I don’t really see it, you can split and join two bzipped files (presumably CSV so you can see the extra rows). Bzip seems to compress better than gzip too.

I'm a huge proponent of AWS over other providers but it's also _very_ manual and detailed. Sometimes it's nice to let someone else do the detail work and pay to get the benefits.
