Interesting value-add to just using Heroku (or similar) PR apps. Question about pricing: are "users" just developers, or anyone that should be able to view the app? While I find the pricing of $16 just fine if it is for developers

Just eyeballing it there seems to be 1 square kilometer of panels total. At regular solar panel efficiency, output would be 1000-2000MW total. So the same order of magnitude as one nuclear reactor.

Well, you could consider things like the Google Spanner database, that uses gps timing to do atomic commits across datacenters. Since this powers many of googles services (Gmail etc.), the fallout would potentially be massive on IT infrastr

Well, they most likely did expect consequences. But regardless they need to make noise of it when it happens, else it would be a waste of attention. This is just the way the world works. If you are opposed to something, you need to comp

This is because the CSS spec is consciously written so that you only never need to look forward when parsing the DOM. For the same reason there is no follow sibling selector, only previous sibling (`~`) This is a major performance factor, s

To call Oslo flat is a great understatment. Parts of the city are located with 1000ft+ height differences. Just the very center is the flat part. Oslo is very different from Copenhagen or Amsterdam in this regard. It’s probably quite close

A great contributing factor in Oslo is that very few people live in the city center. It’s only business. I would imagine in the US, residents would still like to have cars accessible. But maybe in SF it’s the same with business-only areas?

Oslo is still heavily lacking in bike accessibility, more so than the article presents. New bike paths are around the periphery of the center. In the city center, there are close to zero bike parking spots. Everyone who wants to take the bi

Yes. This is the problem with this as an investment strategy for anything but hobbyists. In addition; it would require quite a lot of labor to auction and send all these sets around, as well as paying for storage space. Something which is n

Google docs had multi-user features before Wave. Back when it was called writely.com even. Some features scattered out onto other Google products though (like hangouts).

Yea, it could at least have been an option. But my guess is they didn't want too many SKUs, and wanted to hit a price-point of less than $1000.

The problem with this line of thinking is that it will pretty much never be cost-efficient to make a German language movie with a limited market compared to a English movie. No matter how great it is. It is even worse for smaller countries

Also the proliferation of the internet has been heavily tax subsidized to give access to the masses. Even more benefit is gained from being based in states without sales tax. Something brick and mortar stores can’t do to compete.

Perhaps, but the first version of Rust appeared 6 years of nginx was launched, so it was never a choice. However, development of a new web server in Rust is an interesting project, and could certainly compete with nginx over time if enough

My local newspaper (in Sweden) does this. All subscriber has access on the web to the archive back to 1910. Very useful and fun to browse ex. birthdays or things from the world wars.

If you have as strong Swift dev, there is very little reason to pick React Native. You'll earn much more productivity using the knowledge the dev already has than trying to get people to learn something new. If you had a React based we

Regarding your first statement, GDPR does not apply to personal projects. Only to business to consumer interaction. You are at less risk (in fact, zero), if you don't have an LTD as you are outside the scope of the law.
