In my experience, this kind of productivity can only be seen in small startups or, if in a large company, on an entirely new product line when processes like test coverage, reviews, etc are lax. In large firms and existing code-bases, it ca

The author doesn't say don't trust doctors or trust chatgpt. He says don't trust "a single doctor" and look for a second opinion whenever possible.

Are h1b workers really cheaper? Don't you have to pay them similar to what an American at the same level would be paid?

And India. Although here they do a horrible job of it, so I prefer to sharpen them myself.

Just wanted to thank you for a great tool :-). I love d2 and ever since I discovered it a couple of years back I've been using it for all my diagramming needs. Thanks again and keep up the good work!

Databricks on azure is huge. I've heard that in some Azure regions, over 70% of the compute usage is just Databricks. So there is definitely an incentive for MS to acquire them.

For a few TBs of data, well partitioned and stored in parquet or some such format, you could just use duckdb on a single node.

Even within "South Asia", India is over-represented. Haven't heard of too many Pakistani, Bangladeshi, or Sri Lankan CEOs.

This is amazing! I was working on something like this myself, but I've not reached anywhere near this level of functionality or polish. Looks like I'll drop it and see if I can contribute to this instead.

This is cool and all, but I don't see why this can't be accomplished (and more deterministically) with a bunch of bash/python scripts. I've seen that done and work well in several firms for decades.

Beachbody isn't an MLM. They sell workout programs (used to be dvds but have now moved to a subscription model). From personal experience, I can say that at least one of their programs - Tony Horton's P90X - is very good.

If this is just running tests locally, it seems deeply flawed - e.g. the tests would work even if I forgot to commit new files. OTOH if starting a new container, pulling my branch and then doing everything, it's definitely as good as r

Amazing workmanship. And they managed to make the watch look beautiful as well.

I'm ok with removing the charging port, but please bring back the headphone port. I'm tired of using bluetooth earphones that lose their charge exactly when you need them not to.

I echo the author's feelings, though not for the same reasons. The main reason I want to be comfortable if not proficient in vim - and why I use it as my goto editor - is so that I know my way around when I have to login to remote serv

In Amazon's Bangalore office, getting rooms for meetings was hard even before Covid. When we managed to get rooms, a couple of minutes extension wouldn't be possible because someone would be breathing down our necks for their upco

I wouldn't say they were ahead at least in terms of reputation. They targeted India's Adani group and failed. The Supermicro "revelation" was also a damp squib. I suppose they made plenty of money with their short-sellin

Cemetery of Forgotten Books series by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. The stories are very dark and affecting. His descriptions are evocative, and the writing is absolutely beautiful even in translation.
