Telegram is quite popular in India too - especially for group communication since it has a much higher membership limit. A lot of the Whatsapp groups I was part of have now moved there.

The case probably will run for years if not decades. The problem is the court will ask ISPs to block the sites in the meantime while the case is subjudice. Thankfully Indian ISPs are not very strict about blocking and the websites are acce

Stubble-burning contributes only for a short period of time during early winter. Granted, it is a significant contributor (over 40% this year) during this time. But Delhi's pollution is plenty bad over the rest of the year as well.

I concur. Here in India I had once finalized an apartment for rent for around Rs. 35000/month. The landlord bailed at the last moment because an agent found him another tenant willing to pay Rs. 2000 more/month. However: 1. I had

+1 for this. It's quite python-specific, but I found it amazingly insightful.

Your role in the company may not directly harm anyone, but if the company is doing "bad" things, then you're arguably an enabler for those anyway.

An idea - you could treat guns the way you do drugs. Possession of one or two guns can be considered self-defence or sport. Possession of more than that would be a crime. Most smugglers wouldn't bother if they can only purchase/ca

Soya has more protein than any meat. In India we have it as chunks, granules or chaap. You also get vegan protein supplements these days made with peas and various lentils, in case you need something extra.

Can't speak for other FAANGs but this is definitely not true of Amazon India. They have teams working on everything from Alexa to new AWS services, and of course retail as well. Not to mention Amazon India itself which is pretty unique

For the system design interview I would blame your recruiter for not preparing you for what to expect in the interview. Larger companies like FAANGs actually do a very good job at that. The Kleppmann book others have mentioned is of course

If you think caste discrimination does not exist in TN just because of this, you are fooling yourself. Politically powerful castes like Vanniyars and Gounders still discriminate against Dalits and other castes, especially in rural areas.

I neither work at nor use Facebook, but I don't understand why only tech employees should be held to such high standards on morality. Nobody asks goldman sachs employees to quit en masse for precipitating the wheat price crisis of 2011

Reviews and listings seem to be taking a backseat now in India as well. A couple of years back you could expect to see a new restaurant listed and its menu posted within a couple of days of opening. Now it often takes months.

This is a welcome move. For short, small-value rides like with auto-rickshaws, Uber and Ola's commission can be close to 100% or even more. You can travel (slightly) cheaper by negotiating with the famously fleecing rickshaw drivers th
