i think in the long run, having to maintain a code that is readable helps a lot. even though c++ itself is easy to follow, it starts to get complicated once you get deeper and deeper in oo where everything is inherited from something else.

well. i want to do some testing on a legacy app. The app runs fine on old veriosn of firefox and old OS but i want to try it on a recent distribution and remove firefox dependancy as a next step. Isn't it fits with sandboxing way of a

yup. you are right about the size. although in my case, the around 100mb shouldn't be big problem. But i hope something comes up in nw.js that makes it smaller to distribute applications.

the closest example of the application i have would be some sort of kiosk for rail reservation. people come, select journey and time, do the payment and get the printed ticket. For such a scenario, i'm exploring nw.js.

thanks for the links. sounds good to look at. Other risk part i have in application is calling hw decoders from gst api for playing mp4 videos. not sure how well that is supported in nw.js especially for intel and arm arch.

i recently installed some node-webkit on ubuntu 14.04. They work fine. Dynamically linked to .so isn't a big hassel. Its just small work-around. Such library changes do happen in desktop world. But i agree, a better handling to link dy

hmm.....strange that firefox is being put up on a v6 arch. The current generation of boards (such as firefly) is based on ARMv7-A. a much more powerful and matured arch. Next, v8 is coming up with 64 bit support.
