There is an exceptional irony in investing in an exceptionally talented team as they are typically the ones with the smallest downside in failure.

Not to mention that this has to be one of the corniest things I've seen since the 90s. From a tech side it's interesting, but from an end user side it's something I would make fun of with my friends. I wonder how much of that

Ugh please stop. So much fake going on. Oakland is just like any city in the last 20 years. Just fine but still remembered for their past.

Ad blocking is interesting in that it shows what happens when something that probably should be regulated has not. And because of this the public trust has eroded and then the answer has become an arms race of ad blockers vs ads. Resulting

Because transportation is a vital element of our economy. The same problem with price gouging. Very short sighted market lock ups turn into much bigger problems. I guess we just need to learn this lesson once again. Edit: I should add that

I find this so interesting as I have always felt if someone is paying me I make sure to give them exactly what they paid for and not a bit more. A market economy does not allow me generosity. When I'm writing code for myself or others

Anecdotal, but I've been aware of this fake review industry for probably about 6 years and I am amazed that almost everyone I talk to does not believe the scale and the scope. They think there might be one or two fake reviews on an Ama

Many people are against public transit based upon a very vocal(and wealthy) minority that is opposed to it being government run instead of private enterprise. It's essentially the opposite of the ideology that caused the build up of ma

In other news Excel has replaced 1,000s of programmers. So sick of this lame tech worker bias with these "poors" jobs. These posts on HN really reinforce every stereotype toward tech culture. Please stop posting and upvoting this

That is absolutely correct about "involvement". It was a poor choice of words. I was talking about income taxation.

My apologies if my original comment appeared to be about it being unrealistic. It was about expansion of government involvement which personally I'm not particularly against(or for). I was talking about it being larger than it is now a

Considering the population involved in taxation is ~48% I feel like 100% is a bit higher. There is certainly additional tracking based upon the listing of dependents ect. but I'm confident it's less then every single US citizen.

My assumption was that Social Security typically only effects most US citizens after 65 and/or working(paying income tax). For example, while debated and likely not highly accurate, ~10% of the US citizen population doesn't have a

Which is a bit ironic because the infrastructure of basic income will require tracking of US citizens on a scale never before seen in the US. I'm not for or against basic income at this point, but it does make me chuckle a bit about id
