You have a machine that’s basically a clean room inside and one of the parts is essentially electrosputtering tin but then throwing all the tin away and using the EM pulse from the sputter to do work. Oh and can you build it so it can run h

My friend in college did an internship on high frequency, short pulse beams (I wanna say violet and picosecond? Which I still think was exotic at the time). Most of his work was dealing with and accounting for reflections that left the mach

The thing about the Mikado method is that you’re taking what from your perspective is a top down task and flipping it to bottom up. Which is for instance more amenable to refactoring, which is a bottom up task. Sometimes when you get to the

I still think we should have gone with average gates per square mm as a new yardstick. It would also make sense to the Numbers Go Up people.

The whole “exploding tiny drops of metal” in the middle of this is just Loony Toons. This machine is literally insane and two of the companies I am long-long on would be completely fucked without it.

I don't like that 'yak shaving' has degenerated into a synonym for boondoggle. Some explanations of yak shaving split it into a complex form of procrastination and also necessary annoyances - friction - obstacles. Sharpen you

Bloom filters are useful for sharding so it stands to reason that a hash table implemented with shards would benefit.

Problem is bloom isn’t close to the theoretical space complexity of the idea it implements and if you add 15% then it starts becoming attractive to switch to one that gets a tighter bound on the space complexity.
