Los Angeles used to have a good streetcar system, a century ago. What killed the streetcars (car-company conspiracy, or simple economics) is disputed, but makes for good reading.

I really don't think "the average american" has a good awareness of events, let alone government regulations, outside the country's borders. Presumably Apple has some internal calculation of how much $$$$ they would lose

Such a good observation! Even as a very left-leaning person, this is the problem I see with the current implementation of "DEI": the white majority, including so-called progressives, never intend to give up their hold on all forms

Even new, they had nowhere near the noise cancellation of my old Bose QC20i. AirPods are disappointing, but convenient. I guess that's why we buy them.

Mine lose 20-30% sitting in their case overnight. It's very annoying. You ARE lucky!

I receive the physical "newspaper," but typically consume the content through the audio version, about 8-9 hours every week. Pretty good value for $100-150/year!

Another way of putting it: Bezos' move has deprived the state of Washington of $1B in taxes, although Washington is where Bezos accumulated his billions.

Presumably people (guys? My guess is 100% guys) who bought Fiskers could afford to lose the money, OR they wanted to look like guys who could afford to lose the money - that's what conspicuous consumption is all about.

Just apply to a big company. Any big company should do, but to be on the safe side, apply to an IT job where the employer is not a "tech company." Government and university jobs are boring too!
