Have anti wokers got anyone fired. They are just reactionary fools and don't have as much political clout as original fools.

It's unfair to lump most with "left" though. There are quite a number of people on this site which call out sjw bullshit, for instance. I think HN is still much better than tech twitter which is full of woke feminists hating

Wokeism is the fastest growing religion for a reason.

This kind of problems are present everywhere where empty headed suits allocate resources without a clue of the field.

Do you have any links about recent developments / GC algorithms? Thanks.

At this point, I wonder whether it's possible to architect an efficient GC that predictably runs only when alloc() is called and thus helps to avoid pauses in main loop. Of course it works best with a language having value types.

As someone who hasn't used swift, are there same array covariance problems as C#/Java due to implicit casting?

I think this is a valid criticism from flatpak / snap. But they are step in right direction about sandboxing (on the other hand bloat and developer trust are main problems abou these platforms for me).

The world doesn't work like that. 1) application sandboxing isolates different vendor's code, some of which may be security / privacy infringing. 2) There wouldn't be a problem with data sharing in a properly designed sa

The technological ludditism is exhausting. We know some things are *objectively* better than the status quo. With attack surface as big as a modern browser or media player, not having sandboxing would be a mistake. Just the people who are s

This comment made me LoL but yes there's some steppe ancestry in Indians. But doesn't considerably vary among castes. I guess most of "upper castes" have something like 10% more steppe ancestry on average. Brahmins have

To be fair, arranged marriages depend on even more things. Sub-sub-sub-caste as other poster mentioned, and gotra (which excludes certain members of same caste). That's just too foreign thing for a western mindset.

Slightly off-topic, this website has a collection of a HUGE number of retro GUI screenshots. (I can't help but feel interfaces were more usable those days, being a millennial)

In very low level programming, we probably want more fine grained control, and specialized code tends to use specialized arena allocators anyway. If I am to write a browser engine, I'd choose rust, to write an embedded OS I'd choo
