This also matches my experience so far, but tbh top 10, group by, etc. queries are too easy. Llms produce terrible results on queries requiring multiple CTEs or complex tables. e.g. i still have not seen an llm able to calculate any stats o

Could you test with clickhouse-local? It always works better for me.

That’s an awesome change. Will that also work for limit offset queries?

I know, I guess my comment is driven by all the AI-resume generators. Try a random resume and the first suggestion you get from them is "Add numbers". You add numbers and you still leave some bullet points without any, and the nex

It's extremely funny that this is accurate for souvlaki in Greece. :) On the contrary, I was amazed by the quality of food in stations in Japan. Some "shady" shops there had some of the best ramen/udon I had in Japan.

I guess you talk about hard failures or replication slot deletion, right? Debezium has a snapshot mode (1) to refetch everything from scratch, we have tested it but opted out of using it because it would put pressure on postgres with the qu

I also agree with most of your comments and conclusions. In our setup, we use app ingestion to send all the denormalised data into Clickhouse using async inserts and Debezium/Kafka/Kafka engine and materialized views to sync a few

I have seen quite a few times, VPs, EMs or lead/senior engineers being angry and resentful towards people switching companies and/or teams. A f2f meeting _could_ help, but not always.

Nice one, I am going to check it out. Just curious, is there anything with a forever (until further notice) free tier for toy projects?

This is also my take on this. Tech became tighter to join 2 years ago and for the next years are going to play music chairs on the open seats as lay offs continue, executives think that AI can replace anyone and younger generation (with low

Where in my post did I focus on care jobs and not generally this kind of jobs (elderly care, teachers, nurses, cleaners, plumbers, farmers, etc).

People used to do these jobs and also own a house, have large families and happy lives. So the incentive of a career path and more money is only because people cannot have these things today (and fake social media lives influence).

Hi, i like your effort and was subscribed for a while. The vast majority of jobs were from us so they were almost irrelevant to me (based in eu). I would appreciate if you added some location filtering before subscribing. Thanks again.

Being from both sides, I would say it depends. But especially after a take home assignment, feedback should be given 100% and face to face. It's almost embarrassing to spend X hours/days of your (spare) time only to be rejected wi

Europe is probably easier to get hired, but if you are a senior making some medium+ salary, it's also easier to get skipped in favor of cheaper candidates.

Yeah but usually these people are top candidates and occupy the other engineering manager positions, and you, managing a super productive team of 5 or 10 instead, don't even get into a single interview there. And that applies to every

Analysts usually query data warehouses, which are columnar, so * is a query/warehouse killer. Everybody should just select the columns they need.

Or perhaps it's just because companies release features, planes, devices, etc. without any form of QA, aiming just to increase their profits? In this case, has CS done any QA on this release? Have they tested it for months on all the v
