I know of "M-." which will insert the last word of the previous command, and typing "M-." again will replace it with the last word of the command before that. Is there something that goes through the words, instead? So

Probably, but the context here was mobile. The monospaced parts are too tiny on my iPhone 5c.

In my eyes, the "size of the delta" between, say, fish and bash, is similar to that between, say, Perl and PHP. Or C# and Java. So I feel it's justified to say that fish is a different language than POSIX shell.

The oldest commit on Github is from 2005, and it mentions documentation updates, so it seems Github doesn't have the whole history.

Why is the guy in the German image walking on the wrong side of his car, and why is the car parked on the wrong side of the street? And now that I'm taking a closer look: the cars in the side street in the background, they are also on

It took me a long time to understand that "oink" is a sound that a pig makes, and it's not related in any way to the sound that Tigger makes when jumping around on his tail. And "ewww" (expression of disgust) in Can

Are there shells where `ls` is a built-in? I just replied to another comment where I wanted to say that I don't mind that the PowerShell version is different because `ls` is a built-in. But then I discovered it's not. So I just

Maybe `cd` is a shell builtin, so I expect its behavior to change when I change shells. So it's not a problem to have `cd` behave slightly differently in bash, zsh, fish, PowerShell.

Just wanted to add my two cents here that I normally use `ls` on PowerShell (instead of `dir` or `get-childitem` or `gci`) because it seems expedient. (I come from a Unix background.) Yes, it does confuse me that plain `ls` in PowerShell i

The way I read it, git is not a competitor but rather an inspiration. They are taking ideas from git to apply them to a different domain.

The point of issue 1 is that sometimes you don't know that the program will run for a long time. So a way to send a program into the background while it is already running, would be nice.
