Ah, that's a relief. It sounded incredibly scary if it was some new type of species just now. I would imagine that it would overwhelm our ecosystems wreaking havoc until a new balance is eventually found with new winners and new types

If you excuse some speculation: (clarifications appreciated of course.) If i remember correctly, ages ago (Windows Server 2003?) Microsoft introduced in-kernel HTTP-handling for the IIS web-server. I think it was for performance improvement

A lower f-stop number means that the aperture is bigger (relative to the focal length), such that it let's in more light. This has several subjective benefits: more light can be used for shorter exposure time or lower ISO (sensor gain)
