AI is mostly about selling something no one needs to people who don't need it. I think they nailed it there. The Ubuntu ad looks cheap.

I doubt the internal SSD is going to die before the power supply gets cooked. If it does, you can get the SSD chips replaced. That is well proven now. Granted it needs a specialist with rework kit but they are starting to become more comm

While that sounds pretty funny I know people who actually burn the CPU on Excel so that might be significant. Granted they should not be using Excel for what they do but you know, it's easier than learning something new!

Storage is usually a non issue on the desktop macs. Just hang a TB disk off the back of it. I've got a 2TB disk hanging off my 512Gb unit. Just ordered the base M4 Pro so will just plug that into it and carry on.

Ordered base M4 pro already. Can finally get rid of my macbooks. Much prefer desktop machines and only use my iPad when mobile.

It's back now but I'll add we have private clones of everything we use and automation that pulls them daily. Has been very handy over the years.

No it's a terrible deal for the end users which is why manufacturers are pushing hard as are iFixit. Manufacturers want to ship a 1 year warranty on stuff and then kick it over the fence to the end user to fix. iFixit etc want to maint

We shovelled 100 of them into a van last year to be shredded. It’s terrible. I had no say or control over that before anyone shits the bed. I bought a studio display to get out of that. That has spares available and is repairable as well. I

Probably a BGA footprint on the holder board. So PCB-PCB bond. So much nope in that!

Looks like a hack rather than a bit of sound engineering. From a mechanical perspective it might work for a bit but thermal cycling on that board-board mating will probably kill this dead. You need to make sure that both parts have the same

I think there is a little bias here from power users. I rarely see any non power users gobbling up storage in large quantities. In fact 256Gb is probably the most common I have seen in the last 10 years and there's aways at least 80-10

They are missing something major here and getting bogged down in some technicalities. Open source has no alternative to big tech because big tech commoditised stuff that's useful whereas open source commoditised stuff that is interesti

Years ago I bought the carelessly discarded domain of a defence contractor that was acquired by another one. And set up a catch all email forwarder. Had weeks of fun reading all the emails that I got sent. There was nothing "secret&quo

I find it a distraction on validation tasks. I prefer to know what the hell I am doing first and be able to qualify that as I work with test cases. With respect to other engineers I haven't found any of our ML tools actually pick up an

No it's a terrible example. We have ITPs and ATPs and any progress on ATPs, which are the ones that are currently considered magical, are turning into a fine asymptote. ITPs are useful however but have nothing to do with ML at all. Put

That is because Mr Hinton is full of shit. He constantly overstates the progress to bolster his position on associated risks. And now someone gave him a bloody Nobel so he'll be even more intolerable. What is behind the curtain is beco
