That is certainly ideal. Unfortunately, many (maybe even most) of the machines here are laptops which are taken home each night. I could probably overlook the Windows updates if it weren't for the noon full-disk virus scan every day, b

Based on anecdotal stories about Windows 10 updating in the middle of gamers' live streams, I can just imagine the frustration of conferencing with an important client when BAM! Windows is applying updates, 1 of 198.

I charge my FitBit Blaze when I'm showering and getting ready in the morning and that's enough to get it back to 100% each morning.

Same of the FitBit Blaze. I'm quite happy with my Blaze. It does notifications (email, call, sms/iMessage, apps) and music control as well. Battery life has been pretty good, though it doesn't really matter, I simply charge

I've used rtl_tcp on a raspberry pi before, but that was mostly to get the receiver close to the transmitter (in which case I unhooked the antenna as well).

I got excited there for a second, I thought you linked the Si468x, which I have been thinking about tinkering around with. It is just a receiver, but it does HD radio which interests me for some reason (it certainly isn't the audio qua

I'll add some other software recommendations along the more visual route. For those on Windows, SDR# [1] is pretty great. On Linux and Mac, I really enjoy using GQRX [2]. And finally, when you're digging deep down into a received

While not SDR, there are some cheaper alternatives if you're just looking to mix code and radio transmitting. [1] https://www.adafruit.com/products/3076 [2] http://www.ebay.com/itm/16208693108

SDR has been an endless source of fun for me. I have a half a dozen different rtl dongles hooked up to raspberry pis and my laptop at any one time. Most recently I wrote a program to read the 900MHz broadcasts from my electric and water met

Reminds me of an issue [1] I ran into with Symantec Firewall looking at UDP fragments as if they were full packets, and blocking them if the value where the port number would be on a full packet matched a rule. [1] https://www.sy

Nice work! Reminds me of the old pricewatch days (which, apparently is still a thing!) If you're looking for recommendations, one of the most important specs to me personally is the screen resolution.

That reminds me that I covered the bright blue LED on the bottom bezel of my ViewSonic LCD with electrical tape a couple years ago. I can't believe nobody at ViewSonic thought it would be a bad idea to focus a bright blue LED towards t

I also drive a CX-5. When I test drove it, one of the things that stood out to me was how it felt "heavy" when taking your foot off the gas. I guess that was just the engine breaking that I wasn't used to on my previous vehic

It might prove cheaper to extend the power/HDMI cables and bring the console closer instead... Though that still means sitting close to the other player, who you may or may not want to hit with a controller at some point in the game :

Also OT: Anyone else think the Dyn logo is reminiscent of the old Symantec logo? I actually had to go look to see if there was a relationship there (also discovering that the logo was considerably different than I remembered).

Are you confident enough that a seller who is willing to sell counterfeit chargers is always going to send the same exact counterfeit chargers? I'm not.

I've actually found that Best Buy is pretty reasonable when it comes to this if you point out the specs being identical. But I'm sure it is going to vary depending on who you get and what kind of day they've been having.
