These comments are like that famous one where dropbox was announced on HN and someone replied to it with an rsync script “that is essentially the same”. What’s it called when people do that?

That’s pretty cool. The dumbed down version of that for me is sourcing different zshrc files depending on the machine I’m using…which obviously wouldn’t work for anything else.

I use this too but every other time I come back to it I have to really read through the docs to figure stuff out. That’s just me not writing very useful notes though -_-

I love reading stuff like this. I’m getting into the whole emacs thing via doom specifically because I despise how graphical and sandboxed every productivity app is.

It’s almost impossible to make good UI without dumbing things way down. Either that or I’m lacking imagination.

I don’t necessarily think leetcode should be the only litmus test for a candidate but Max is an outlier. Not every candidate getting rejected by a leetcode question is also capable of building out homebrew on their free time.

Plex servers and containerizing all of the services that support it are how I learned to use docker before I became a professional. It’s now turned into a collection of containerized services all talking to each other with dynamic dns on cr

It used to be possible with mint.com. I actually reported that to them and they fixed it!

Then I envy you. It’s not some big secret but it definitely happens with my keyboard. Maybe it’s loading it from the keyboard itself? Either way it only happens during windows updates

I was confused when I wrote the title because they referred to Heroku as Salesforce and I’m not used to that.

Yea it’s just not clear if the repos are heroku infrastructure, heroku users or something else.

Looks like Heroku got hit by it: https://status.heroku.com/incidents/2413

This wasn’t clear to me at first but it looks like these might be heroku specific repos and not salesforce ones.

I run a wire to the unit next door and use my neighbor's internet and all the microphones have been covered with blue tapes and the webcams are pointing at my bird cage. I can't wait to install this.

It's what I'll probably end up doing when I have the energy but my wife is a bit techphobic and enjoys playing some games since setting up the PC on the TV but will abandon everything if linux starts getting in the way :D

Driver popups. I made the mistake of buying a razer keyboard and microsoft update itself is pushing to download their companion app each time it does an update. It's a thing, look it up. There are workarounds but they don't surviv

Some of us have windows just to play games, sometimes on our tv’s with a controller but that’s impossible when you have garbage popping up constantly. There’s definitely a demand for windows that can play games and do nothing else.
