I've just measured it with wattmeter. Xeon E5-2697v2, 64GB ram, SSD + 2x HDD, GTX1080. Excluding monitor, that might add another 15W according to its "energy usage bar" which sits at about 25%. 110W "idle" with fire

Just that 128GB DDR4 is more than 550usd in my country. GPU with 2GB of VRAM is not much today, my 4k desktop consumes 1.6G vram and i'm not even running any game.

OK, let's calculate! Old PC amortized to 130W constantnly, 24/7, @ 20c per kWh = 0.624$ per day, that is 227.76 per year. New workstation today is like ~4000$. So that means you'd have to run it more than 17 years at that pri

It already is! I've swapped old i7-3820 @ 4.3GHz for E5-2697v2 few months ago. Bought another 32Gigs of RAM, and now I already have PCIe 3 (long overdue). I've also tried to overclock it via BCLK (100-110MHz) and gained ~300MHz. I

Just looked at prices in Germany... 3090ti is still more than 2k euros, same for Czech Republic (seen one for about 2700 eur few days ago), or Slovakia, very similar in France. So, no - I don't really see prices getting normal. Where a

Because of electrons, they are moving charge wich does interact with magnetic field. At this strong levels, it's quickly detrimental for molecules.

If a service uses any amount of animation, then i'm instantly searching for an alternative. Excessive animation like this and i'm lost customer right away. > Here, it's three or four times a day? Hell no. I'm not 6.
