I live in England. Our cities are walkable, but they are often a nightmare to commute to by car (and bus, train, even though this is getting better). What I think would work in American suburbs is light rail/tram systems. They aren

I was pro-lockdown when we didn't have the vaccine, but don't know if all the measures the UK took were necessary to contain the virus, or if, on balance, certain policies didn't cause more harm than good. For example, public

In the UK, lockdowns doubled mental health referrals amongst young people [1] and there was a sharp increase in alcohol related deaths [2]. I hope they don't return, given we now have a vaccine. I also doubt their efficacy, with cases

One the most frustrating things to me, and I say this as as a Southerner, was why they decided to build HS2 first, instead of linking up Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield first (HS3). Then building HS2 if it was necessary. But now the

I think a Google search for "clean energy ETF" yields some good results. I wouldn't say I am 100pc invested in clean energy ETFs, but do hold them for ideological reasons.

One of the stories I often hear, is that people have decided to move house to the countryside, as they are now able to work remotely. I don't know how true this is: are these people not concerned if their employer decides to reopen off

Originally the front light was a Paperwhite-only feature, until it was also introduced to the basic Kindle range. It's reasonable to have the wish that color temperature might be similarly introduced to a basic model, when the other fe

The UK has heavily invested in new nuclear, Hinkley C, in a addition to offshore wind schemes. If anything, I am surprised that climate change is being treated as seriously as it is in the UK, from both sides of our political spectrum.

If one is not able to work in the industry oneself, there are also clean-energy ETFs that one can invest in, to support companies working on clean energy, which can manifest similar optimism by-proxy.

The problem is, is supposedly, upvote = adds to the conversation, downvote = detracts from conversation. In reality, upvote = I agree, downvote = I disagree. However I don't think anything can save twitter from being a toxic platform.

It looks like tmpfs is Linux-only feature. Otherwise I have a single docker-compose.yml file that sets up postgres using "Docker for Desktop" on Mac and Windows and works natively on Linux. CI (Linux) uses the same docker-compose.

I always go further and use the same database for my tests e.g. use postgres rather than H2. It is easy enough to setup and tear down using docker.

I don't think it's less secure to use a Javascript library from a CDN if you use https://www.srihash.org . If the CDN server is compromised and the library edited then the resource no longer loads.
