The problem with fusion is that in the form accessible to us here on Earth (deuterium-tritium), it still creates radioactive waste. It is not the sort of long lived waste you would see from Uranium based nuclear fission, it is more comparab

Not entirely. The article does make some inaccurate claims about the cracking of the Enigma.

More accurately, the British and French had not managed to make any progress decrypting the Enigma until the work of Rajewski and the Biuro Szyfrów was handed over to them due to the shifting political situation.

That assumes a rather static view of the situation. For Costco to maintain the advantages they gain from the wage disparity (employee loyalty, motivation, etc) they would have to further increase their own wages if such legislation was pass

Why does that automatically preclude being motivated by good will? If their goal is to provide better wages to their employees then they would be best able to do so by increasing their competitive advantage by any means possible. Clearly th

So I'm not a cinematographer but I find watching 3D at 24 FPS pretty annoying whenever the camera moves to quickly because you get a painful strobing effect. I had noticed it since the first 3D movie I saw and it has bothered me since. The

It might only be coming into vogue now because strobing effects are far more noticeable in 3D than 2D and so the limitations of 24 FPS are becoming apparent as never before.

I've always seen "garbage collector" used as a generic term for an automatic memory management system, not a reference to the specific algorithm used to do it. It could be a tracing garbage collector or it could be using reference counting.

The patent system is not for encouraging innovation, it is for encouraging people to share the secrets of their innovation. Without a patent system we would go back to the guild system of the middle ages, in other words, the protection of t
