Ah, personal finance tracking. One of the first programs I wrote as a teenager was to track my expenses. It was written in Turbo Pascal and only had room for 10 entries per month. Then I found GnuCash and even later ledger-cli. Unfortunatel

That's too simplistic. Retiring nuclear power plants has been the long term goal of the German anti-nuclear movement since the 70s. They were an important faction in the founding of the Green Party. When the Green party came into power

Let's address these one by one. Data portability is kinda useless if all your contacts are on a single network. What we really need are federated social networks. If Facebook loves the GDPR so much why did they move all non-EU users ou

I hope this never, ever happens. I love that I can basically listen to any music I like on Spotify. (I know there are exclusivity deals in music streaming but so far it hasn't affected me.) Compare that to the fragmented video streamin

You can turn retweets off for the people you follow. I follow maybe 100 people who post regularly but only allow retweets from a handful of them. Since I've done so, the quality of my feed has improved dramatically. Usually, when I fol

Ignoring a red light as a pedestrian carries a 5 € fine in Germany [1]. 10 € if it causes an accident. Jaywalking (crossing the street where you're not supposed to) also carries a 10 € fine. [1] https://www.bussgeldkatalog.o

The fact that the vast majority don't use a feature does not make it less important for the people who do. That's the same logic as saying, I don't know, that face recognition only has a false positive rate of 1/1000. If
