An oldie but goodie. But, hasn't this been posted to HN before in some other format? That "heaviness of being successful" line reminded me of "Annie Hall". "Did you achieve total heaviosity?"

I had a push mower (made in USA, BTW) some 4 years ago. Like the mower in TFA, it came with the type of handle that comes in n parts that you need to bolt together. It worked for a month or so, then the handle fell apart. Bought a gas-power

I don't think "normal people" are as anti-Apple as this post makes them to be. Also, "normal people" are certainly much less tech-phobic than they were, say, 15 years ago.

If you document you need to keep the comments in sync with the code. If you write self-documenting code, you need to keep the function names in sync with the code. You just can't win...

Agreed. BTW, multiple desktops were around since before Linux. Unix workstations had them since the late '80s or so.

"edit: he doesn't seem to know that macs have a command line" Yes, I found that bizarre. That, and the part where he writes that Ubuntu "does everything that Windows does".

I haven't given Emacs a fair shake yet, but it's definitely in my to-do list. Maybe with Viper to mitigate the shock...

Well, Popular Mechanics was technically right. I am writing this on a computer that weighs no more than 1.5 tons. Quite a bit less in fact.

More like a reprise of the biplane (BMW started as an aircraft engine maker way back in the day). Did anybody else think of Porco Rosso when seeing this car?
