I agree with your stance, though my take on it is a little differently headed. Why do some people choose to define their personal values and motivation along abstract concepts that are only ever read about, never felt , and never even seen

I've been making the same guess for years now. Ever since hwtools (supplier of expresscard/mini pcie breakout boards) said they were not allowed to release a thunderbolt version, it was clear to me that this generation, the dma-ex

ePaper usually dies around freezing temperatures, and you won't be able to safely insulate it unless you mount it on the inside close to your wrist. Transflective LCDs are pretty good though.

Depth of field changes by the equivalent of one stop from full frame to aps-c, another from aps-c to micro four thirds. Thus, a f/2.8 zoom on mft shoots like a f/5.6 zoom on full frame. Now if there only were fast full frame lense

Well, Intel Edison was a different story. The elephant in the room is chip availability for the Allwinner CPU. Is that guaranteed to be in stock 5 years down the line?

Being certified for 10V/m does not mean the device will withstand 11V/m. Shielding for almost arbitrary field strengths is still hard. At 100V/m any short cable will pick up high voltages.

How is navigation on these maps? Every time try using OSM to guide me from point A to point B, it becomes a feature-length endeavour. Has this changed?

Windows machines need to be on for about half a day every week. I know no other device that needs this kind of attention, apart from helicopter gas turbines that are best kept slowly spinning.

The twin museum at Sinsheim as a Concorde and a Tu-144 next to each other. Makes for a fun day with a rental car from Frankfurt if you are an aviation nerd.

Is there any way to get the old winamp back? I'm thinking a 2.96 binary with compatibility mode or something. I just want to try it again to see if it feels as good as I remember it.

I keep hearing this, but I can't quite bring myself to agree. Let's stay tech-positive and use this problem to advance our industry. The problem is this: we don't have any machine that simplifies vote counting while being as

What competitors are there? Their hardware is getting more and more specific, looking at e. g. their four-socket systems or their 2U quad-systems. Nothing that doesn't handle like any other computer, but hard to cross-shop for.

I'll bite. In what ways can you use up 100MByte with a fancy reimplementation of an online shop ? That should be enough for a text to speech engine, or a 3d engine with quite a few assets. I am being deliberately ignorant, having no

Slightly OT: I signed up for the IFTTT newsletter a long time ago, in hopes to find out what people use the thing for. Turns out it's impossible to unsubscribe from that newsletter, which disqualified the whole service in my eyes.
