We agree to disagree. Btw, criminal conviction related to the profession is not a proxy, it is really one of the things that matter, measured directly. So you're mixing concepts.

That is intended to be a transient mechanism, to evolve towards a more balanced status quo after it has ended.

The fact that many variables are correlated doesn't condone using any of them as an evaluation criteria. See my other comment on stat proxies.

What matters is a matter of causality, which is inside the realm of science.

(EDIT: I had not read thoroughly your comment, see my PS below for a direct reply.) Your point is to use a proxy for the variable that really matters. Unfortunately that proxy is neither reliable, nor has good impact on the society in gener

Easy enough: make matter things that have no reason to matter. Like what the skin color has to do with how good your physician is? Nothing. Science is smart enough to propose the adequate metrics, in this case it does absolutely not include

This whole debate is surrealist. Bigotry and intolerance are fundamentally irrational and illogical, so the so-called "left-bias" of science is just science being itself. Now the comments in this HN page and the reason.com article

Not all possible Piet Mondriaan-like painting would lead to a valid network, though. For example if you have a centered square with four identical rectangles organized around in a certain way. Moreover, even for "valid" painting

My take is that it could be the excessive vibrations and shocks inside the Dragon ship. Iirc, some Dragon passengers already "semi-complained" about that in the past. Now the NASA probably has agreements with SpaceX discouraging t

I you allow to replay the videos it's going to be boring anyway, in binary as well as in decimal. For example, in decimal, you can group the digits by pairs, and you just need 100 videos.

Pipes are extremely useful. But I guess it just depends on your use case. I do a lot of scripting. If you dislike their (relative) slowness, it's open source, you can participate in making them faster. And I'm sure that after this

Lasers are even more energy-intensive than pesticides... Mechanical methods could be better, but just not micromanaging it and using permaculture methods would be the best solution.
