Yes, that was the idea. We're industrial designers, so we thought we'd make a start for that discussion by designing concrete, tangible objects that somehow mirror that dystopian society (the 'aicracy').

It was more aimed at personalized pricing in insurances e.g., but money is indeed all that, too.

Yes, I am – I'm a professor of Industrial Design, this was my class in which the students designed the objects. Should I rename it to Show HN?

We tried to create everyday objects from a fictional world in which we somehow chose to be governed by algorithms. The scariest thing about it was that nothing we came up with doesn't already happen in some way.

We'll have to prove ourselves to be human all the time. We're facing a life of many, many Turing tests – with us being the ones trying to prove we're human.

Same here, very very smart. It even gets typographic quotes right when nesting them (such as „The sign said ‚yes‘, clearly.“), keeps an eye on not jumping between tenses or different forms of addressing people („Du“ vs. „Sie“ in German).

In the age of metadata-rich photos, I still like to stick to the good old photo folder. I know, I know. No database, no face recognition, no geodata – but it's super easy for me to make backups of, and I'm optimistic that my grand

I gave a TEDx talk in 2009, which was very popular on YouTube back then, and it was chosen by the TED editors to be put as a ‚proper‘ TED talk on the TED.com website. It‘s quite interesting to see how they shortened the video even further d
