why don't you? I assume they don't exacly have a huge community of active devs. combine that with the fact that user interface design is hard and needs experienced people working on it and you got the reason for cloning a perfectly function

if the someone with the idea has enough pull, (s)he probably simply shuts down any red flags with "it was my idea, do it now!"

actually, anygender playing dumb to get help from the teacher/TA seems to be common. especially in a TA/student situation is where I see that a lot.

That is a very good point, coming from the developer's view. I think that Jeff's point is more valid if you look at it from the customer's view.

I agree with you, I like the main project page a lot as well. One improvement could be to either fade out (and fade in on mouseover) or darken the 3,4,5 block (numbers from the link). This would have the effect of either hiding the block so

I think it's more a matter of context. In fact, I do believe in hand coding HTML. but this is a link for a simple wysiwyg editor. I would assume that this attracts mainly people that have _some_ need for a wysiwyg editor for _something_. So
