If nothing else, I'm glad one of the great agrees with me that Socrates was a twat. My wife and I always argue about that, she loves Socrates and I find him utterly insufferable. Plato didn't do him any favors.

My experience with LLMs in Rails has been... pretty bad. It isn't good at tracking 'context' (not in the technical token sense) and constantly gets lost in the sauce and doing weird stuff. Given Rail's maturity, i would

I love Rails Engines, it's a very slick feature. I recently migrated a featureset from one Rails project into another, as a mounted engine, and ensuring isolation (but not requiring it!) has been tremendously helpful.

I disagree with this statement, but I get what you're saying. Two communities with distinct cultures, whose membership nonetheless overlaps, are still two distinct cultures. They may influence each other through that overlapping member

this reminds me of something that happened to me just yesterday: i was at the playground, trying to convince my daughter to go down the slide on her own. She kept saying it was too scary, so I went down first to show her it wasnt scary. The

Not explicitly planning on it currently, but it is something that's in the back of my head. If denaturalizations do start happening, we would have a frank conversation about what to do. I don't know that we would stay in America.

My wife is a naturalized citizen (and a brown one with a muslim name, at that)), and to be perfectly honest I'm no longer confident this admin won't start looking into denaturalizating people like her, for no reason except their e

Wow, the comments on this thread are much more divisive than I thought. I've always felt that the 'there are only two internet cultures: 4chan and tumblr' has felt somewhat accurate. Unfortunately moreso now that /pol&#x

i dont think this is always true. sometimes the chain of logic and premise is grounded in a different ontology entirely (this is what i am referring to as 'toddler logic' for shorthand). this doesn't invalidate the conclusion

Gotta pick the right environment+tree combination. You could always settle in the Mojave, plant a grove of bristlecone pines instead. I don't know if more boreal climates support longevity, I think it has to be some combination of temp

Elon's strong legacy is imo masking a mental decline. People are excusing behavior on his part because of what he's built in the past but imo its not so simple. Differentiating between 5d chess and delusional behavior is not easy.

I understand the appeal of serverless, especially for small stuff (we have a few serverless projects at work, and I've built some hobby projects using Lambda), but ime DevEx is such a dealbreaker. Testing changes or debugging an issue?
