Wait, but Dell Precision 7000 is a laptop? you can't compare with a desktop. I just built a good gaming PC that can be overclocked including a GTX 1080 for just $2300 (monitor excluded). I'm sure with $4700 more it's possible

Those can be handled in a decentralized consensus system such as Ethereum.

In the long term we can at least attempt to counteract this by contributing to decentralized platforms such as Ethereum & Maidsafe, which create transparent decentralized systems in which this sort of censorship is not possible.

I have seen stated that even 7% could be an issue depending on the parameters used. Regardless, it was certainly a big concern at the time for most of the community. That's a bit cynical to call the token holder gamblers, sure many of

If you use a light client the actual size is around 30 MB and takes ~30 seconds. If by "each project" you mean ethereum projects, then no since they share the same chain.

First of all the DAO was a decentralized organisation, it didn't belong to Buterin, it isn't "Buterin's company"... The hard fork had a lot more to do with the fact the overall community didn't thought the syst

You are entitled to your opinion and naturally not everyone cares about the same problems. If you don't see an use for Ethereum (at least not yet) then just don't use it. Btw, you used the word 'pumpers', I really couldn

By decentralized storage I mean ipfs, ethereums own swarm( https://blog.ethereum.org/2016/12/15/swarm-alpha-public-pilo... ), maidsafe, storj, etc.. IPFS is quite popular in the Ethereum comunity (since swarm

Thank you for your reply. Personally I despise the currency aspect and 'get-rich-quick' types that plague the space. However, not everyone is into blockchain tech for those reasons. I personally I got into Bitcoin and later Ethere

Remember what happened to wikileaks.org ? A few calls from a senator and the domain was taken away and amazon shutdown their servers. How do you create an internet in which this sort of censorship is nearly impossible. You might not care bu

Ethereum, MaidSafe, etc.. are trying to be a solution to a specific problem: how to create a trustless decentralized internet (and perhaps even society), one that does not require centralized structures like it does now. It's not quite

As in vote selling and coerced checking? probably can't, but then again, neither can centralized internet voting solutions. Even in normal voting, you can take a photo of the ballot to then prove who you voted for and get paid for it (
