I have a Nexus 5 at the moment and while the pictures are not amazing, what boggles my mind is that the camera sensor and the phone's screen don't have the same aspect ratio!

Integrating Workflowy, Trello, and mindmaps would produce a better, more useful, and more complete tool. All three use the same data structure (lists) and present it in three different ways. These three data UIs excel in different ways at i

The only time I think people should drop out of college is if they're building a company that's becoming crazy successful and making a boatload of money to the point that running that business makes more sense then college.

while the job of your college may be to churn out mediocre Java developers for big corporations, the job of bootcamps is to churn out mediocre Ruby developers for startups. Same thing. Good colleges teach you theory, which is much more impo

Because the 3% credit card fee is already baked into the price of goods you buy. You just don't realize it because merchants are not allowed to visibly offer a cash discount or charge a credit card fee.

Under "top 8" exchanges they list MtGox first. Does not inspire confidence in them in light of the news about BTC China being the biggest. They claim the rankings come from Bitcoin Charts, yet on there BTC China has 60% more volum

They still think MtGox is the measuring stick of bitcoin. They're late to the news that MtGox is having problems and is best to be avoided. MtGox is trading higher because people can't reliably and easily withdraw USD. In order to

Why are people still buying on MtGox? Is it easier and if so, how? I don't see any other reason to pay more.

You'll have to evaluate which exchange you want to use for each of these three actions: 1) buying 2) holding (exchanges are targets for hackers whereas with a private wallet you can be hacked, or you can be virused, or you can lose it

MtGox is having its troubles right now. I've used CampBX and Coinbase reliably without any problems about a year ago. I can't speak to the withdrawal process though, other than to say I wouldn't do it through MtGox anytime so

No worries. I'm curious to see data past what bitcoincharts.com offers. If you look at their three years of data on a log scale, there's a very clear trendline with gains of 6x to 10x per year.

I always use that log option. It's amazing that people look at the normal chart.

Is there a chart of bitcoin prices that goes further back in time than bitcoincharts.com? And preferably logarithmic scale.

It seems to me the real price is lower as depicted by Coinbase or CampBX which have a stable and reliable system, unlike MtGox at the moment. I think the ~6% higher price on MtGox is a reflection of people's lack of trust in MtGox bein

Why are you still on GAE if it costs that much? I learned Django and migrated my projects off GAE a year ago. It was rather painless to learn the bits of Django needed to replace GAE, and looking back it was a great move.

I'd think open layout designs do not qualify for this question as it's pretty well established that they are bad for productivity.

Yes, it shows that other countries are catching up, but every country in the world affects every other country through import/export. If every country in the world were at the economic level of the US, our products would cost much more

This is exactly what's wrong with comments on the internet and it makes me mad to see it! Someone makes an argument, then someone else comes and derails the conversation by nitpicking at random stuff just to one-up the person instead o

I think the right pricing model for this one is freemium. People start using it, get addicted, then you charge them for extra storage once they go over a limit, like Dropbox and Workflowy.

Nothing good can come out of Amazon or Samsung influencing or controlling Android. If those companies were in control, we'd still be in the tech ice ages where the phone companies control our devices.

Can someone comment on data processing and statistics on GAE? Any good experiences? Any bad ones? I'm not an expert on GAE by any means, but I ported my app away from GAE to Django + MySQL because the app was data and statistics oriented (f

Plenty of people say that the most productive time is when there's no one else in the office. Four hours of overlap should be enough for a range of jobs (at least software development). At the very least, it will force those people who need
