I believe it will be a successful business by normal measures, but not live up to the hype and vision of its founders and investors. I think there will be market for a tool, especially with enterprises where people are forced to use a parti

I lost a decent amount of respect for pg due to how he keeps portraying Mighty like it's gonna change how we use the Internet and computers in general. Like, really? I don't mind Mighty as a product, I don't mind their team,

Yup, this was a lesson I learned the hard way when I built out billing for our SaaS product. I had spent weeks thinking about user accounts, team accounts, subscription, integration with Stripe, how the UI would look, how I would verify VAT

I've said it in basically every thread on Nomad on HN, and I'll say it again: Nomad is an awesome piece of focused technology and an absolute pleasure to work with. There is one very clear way to do things, everything feels very p

I agree with you that if you're looking at single-node deployments, Nomad or any distributed orchestrator will feel like overkill. I personally use Nomad quite a lot, but for single-box systems I'll happily revert to using plain D

There are plenty of shops running Nomad, Cloudflare is probably one of the most prominent ones. Also, due to its simplicity and easy of deployment compare to k8s, my guess is that there is a large amount of small shops running Nomad because

Most banks in Germany do this too, and have been doing it for a while, both for private as well as business accounts. The limits are sometimes well below the €100k insured deposit that you typically don’t want to exceed.

Anecdotal, but since recently getting a plug-in hybrid I've only been using regenerative braking except for the most abrupt stops. Whenever you approach a red light or junction it's not hard to stay within the regen braking zone.

I'm a self-taught JavaScript developer (front- and back-end) and I would love to read such a blog post. I mostly use language features for their expressiveness (map, filter, forEach) and rarely think about their performance implication

Genuine question, but would the places that are that inflexible wrt to hardware upgrades have the flexibility to allow you to use a cloud service to perform your most sensitive work?

So you have a highly valuable worker where you can afford to pay 1% of their salary for increased efficiency but somehow you can't afford the $1000 to upgrade their machine? Hmmm...
