Actually they probably are that busy and aren’t trying to impress students, they’re trying to grade a bunch of exams while reviewing a paper while writing up research while writing a grant and also having a personal life.

The majority of employees didn’t care about a lying CEO or alignment research: they wanted the stock payoffs and Sam was the person offering it - end of the day that’s what happened with the coup. Now Sam is seen as fucking with said stock,

Meanwhile the stock Google pays you can be cashed out same day. Really dumb move for OpenAI.

Personally I only use Lemmy now. I never made a goodbye/fuck spez post, I just stopped using Reddit. I think your sample frame is off, they did themselves unforced damage in the long run.

Look at Apple’s ML efforts which are the result of not supporting publishing cutting edge research. Or, better yet, ask Siri and you’ll get the answer.

They publish because they need external validation so people are willing to pay for it and they can retain top researchers. It’s not a gift to Nature or its readers, it’s pure self interest. Giving Google special rules flies in the face of

One of my favorite LLM applications is getting them to write wikidata queries. The data is amazing, but the query language is nothing but pure hell.

Yeah that sentence would literally be caught by a rudimentary grammar checker. This is what happen when you apply YOLO-driven design decisions on the basics of your core product.

Really the only 100% in-house products are Search and Gmail. The rest was bolted on piecemeal into the Borg: maps, android, double click, docs, YouTube, etc. - all acquired. That’s not a bad thing, Google is really a story about a shrewd -

Feel like corpspeak given the vast majority of their products ship on x86. You don’t want to come out and say your current and future products are garbage. Apple could do that because the own the whole stack, but not Microsoft.
