Not sure what they were thinking, but for a long time if you mixed side loaded books with kindle ones, the front cover would go missing from the side loaded when it synced. I've never let my kindle hit the web after I converted by Ama

We did something similar with 'prod' code reviews. We started including a couple of the more junior folks in a pre-release review that was mandated. Intent was to say fine, id tech debt, or pull the andon cord if something was m

Mine came in at 288g, which is a bit more than the 280g that the article mentioned. The nightcore NB10000 w/cable comes in around 167g. Will see this week how it does from a battery performance perspective.

I assume overnight - so shelter, sleeping system, clothing, and cooking. I do like my comfortable hammock, quilt, underquilt, and cuben tarp. That comes in at about 3.5lbs total. Going tent, that is closer to 4lbs for tent (~2lbs), pad, a

I do pack in a small med kit. Typically 3-4 Advil, a couple aspirin, tylenol, a tums, one anti-diarrhea, and one sudafed (meth grade). I also bring in a couple waterproof bandaids, a single serving antiseptic, and a small square of leukot

The trick to lighter packs for many was weighing everything. Not uncommon to break everything down by grams - which tells you what could be improved. No point in spending $50 on a .5oz spoon, if your pack is coming in at 4lbs. Does help

I'll find out if this is true. Hiking buddy of mine pointed it out on Friday, so got one on the way. Was $18 when he called it out, $23 by the time I ordered. Apparently they have a bunch of random stuff like this. They must have s

I wonder if cooling/power is really the key here. I've got a 5950x that ended up getting the water loop I'd intended for my next threadripper - only to find they were not selling the blasted things to anyone but a few compan

Similar thought when I looked at the above link. My pre-coffee brain was parsing along initially, and then it seemed to drift into silly - all while looking correct. I got to believe that sort of input would be toxic to a model.

I know my lexicon has expanded with 5 letter words. Coffee and Wordle kicks off the morning and I got to believe many other folks do the same. It would be fun to know how much that silly puzzle is impacting things. Love it when my Bride g

I've been really happy gaming on Linux. My main workstation had the good GPU, which ended up not needing to dual boot for games. Most of what I play, played really really well. Mind you, likely not a fair comparison to consider a hig

As a child, I remember being up in the attic with my grandfather. He touched some wires, swore (which was unusual for him), and said 'that was 220'. I still have a healthy respect for power.

Most banks will have a brick of $2 bills - often new, with consecutive serial numbers. When I traveled for work, I loved tipping with these fresh bills. Some folks would wonder if it was real. Some would think I just handed them a collecta

I've got games that I intend to play later, and they were cheap enough that I don't think I'll save any more by waiting. I do intend to play Mad Max at some point - $5 was too much for me to add it to my library. $2.50? Fi
