Unwashed produce has essentially zero risk of COVID. Other various bacterial contamination, yes, though it's very rare for those to do worse than give you an upset stomach or cause any lasting damage.

We have enough data to estimate the reasonable range of possibilities and exclude the upthread assertion that a ten minute car ride is similar emissions to 10k plastic bags. A degree of uncertainty need not make us helpless in the face of l

I think the units there are off, a Camry hybrid is about 100g direct CO2 per km. One widely repeated calculation has total direct + indirect emissions for a grocery bag at 200g. So 1km driven vs 1 bag is a similar magnitude of emissions.

They didn't put the good cameras in the Minis so it wasn't really a good experiment. I don't want a cheaper phone, just a smaller one. The improved camera is the only reason I upgraded past the 1st gen SE.

I don't disagree, it's just that the advantage hasn't yet been shown to be big enough to justify dedicating die area in a mainstream chip. There's potential there, if I were designing an accelerator today I would look ha

For deep learning workloads the software for posits isn't the issue, it's doing anything that's not NVIDIA if you want to do it as a standalone product. For NVIDIA it's likely the penalty of not being able to share logic

I think the context is that foveated rendering ties sensor input (measuring gaze direction) to the rendering pipeline in a way that requires very low latency. Past a certain point reducing latency requires optimizations that break normal ab

Having written a moderate amount of both Rust and TypeScript they seem different but I wouldn't say projects in one are significantly simpler than projects in the other. Rust itself feels a little more complicated than TypeScript, but

Few modern gas cars will get over 50 US MPG in city usage. 35 MPG is probably a better estimate for the hybrid fleet which is still much, much better than gas cars of a decade ago.
