Will try the podcasts. Thank you for the recommendations. https://howtobeafounder.com/ This one seems to be a new book. Have you read it? If so, what do you think?

May I ask for more details? I don’t know much about the ML DL scenes, is he related to LSTM and European side of the story?

As a Lisper. I’ll always refer to McCarthy and Minsk’s as the fathers of AI.

Yeah I heard of this website, but never read it. Just saw the podcasts, they seem pretty nice.

Thank you for the advice. I’m in graduate school, so I have contributed to software like SageMath and hopefully Julia in the near future. Recently I’m reading up combinatorial optimisation and how it can be applied.

Do you have any advice or suggestions for college or graduate students who are not in industry, but interested in producing “stable boring” software business? Thank you. Added: With background in math and (theoretical) computer science.

https://www.inference.vc/we-may-be-surprised-again/ The author wrote this article one month ago, and he mentioned where he thought wrong about DL

Yeah I agree. To be honest, I'm more into theoretical ML. Do you have any other similar recommendations?

But thank you for the suggestion.

I'm a math graduate student, so some of the earlier chapters are relatively easy for me, hence the comment.

Thank you. I also learned that Caltech has a course and book called “Learning from Data” which also seems to focus on foundations.

You said Murphy is more Bayesian, so I was wondering that was Bayesian approach working in practice?

What do you think of Murphy approach in practice/engineering.

It seems quite simple… maybe a little too easier than “understanding machine learning”?

Ask HN: What projects/business are you running with ChatGPT and/or other LLMs?

I’m still going through Dive Into Deep Learning, it’s long, but seems to have a good balance between theory and codes.

I’m thinking about getting something cheap like 1080ti or 2080ti. However, I have an Intel MacBook Pro that’s 12 years old, so it definitely cannot support Nvidia GPUs. I’m currently learning on Google Colab. I’m considering getting a secon

This is really not TCS. I’d say ML foundations count as part of TCS, like VC dimensions, learning theory, and all kinds of complexity.

Thank you. Maybe it's not modest, but I do not consider myself to be a "general beginner". I majored in math and CS, so I'm thinking about getting something more hard-core and serious...
