I don't understand why Chinese historians don't seem to have been engaged here? I get finding the American reference source, but then the research just seems to leave it at that. Is this the scope of the site - just investigating

So my summary from the comments here is that almost all scientific study is junk, except when one is certain themselves it isn't.

I think in a way, it's a little sad that over-zealous advertising is seen as a cultural 'feature' to be cherished.

You appear to be only referring to the retail side of Amazon, not the platform side where the article mentions Amazon has numerous restrictive practices in place and set the price through these by excluding competition and competing through

I only assume the poster above is really referring to corruption, where companies with vested interests are not just 'lobbying' for their outcome, but buying them outright... Otherwise there is (or at least should be) no differenc

I'm probably missing something, but other than retrospectively observing that people are paying a price, how does market theory comes up with the price without the 'how?'

If only consumers wore a badge stating "what they are willing to pay" then it would be so much simpler! It is not a magic number, it is all the work of the company creating the desire, brand and product to create demand for the pr

The saving grace for these online services seems to basically just be that the potential customer base is so ridiculously huge that it still pays vs effort required. Same for the big social giants etc. No matter how many people know better

This is fine, so long as the $3M funded research is still open and available to anyone to productionise. Is that how it works or are private companies funding some of the 'open' research phase to then privatise (i.e. make secret)
