I would strongly recommend docker.io from Ubuntu/Debian repos. This will be always Apache 2.0 licensed. (It's a fork of Moby packaged by Debian people). Docker Engine looks problematic since the license isn't clear at all. Fo

I think podman is a lot easier than docker. You can stop all containers easily (without xargs) podman stop -a or you can mount the current directory podman run -v .:/mnt or you can mount while you build podman build -v /dir:/

This is the best solution. Multipass is also great software.

You can run systemd in podman or LXD containers. LXC was the first container implementation on Linux and uses full Linux systems similar to a VM.

In Germany this type of experience would be paid 50k. So the license fee will hit be costly here.

It will break from time to time. But so does Docker Desktop. Neither Docker nor Podman are suitable for mission critical stuff. Their market is entirely dev machines and devs can fix in on their own.

Podman project recently introduced a lot of content addressing features. Some are still experimental though.

What happened to Mac build quality? Still using my 2015 MacBook Pro with only one repair (swelling battery). The cost was ~300€ if I remember correctly.

They didn’t want to lose their job. Most support chats want you to rate the person. This is the real issue.

It’s easier for the support to say the PUK than to risk their job because of a 1 star review.

So I need to develop a view counter for my static website? Not sure how to do that. Why do I need to pay for search engines crawling my website?

Prevent collision with public domains. “ws” has an A record. It’s possible that your local Webserver also is named ws. With all new gTLDs it’s easy to have a collision when someone buys the “router” TLD.

No domain at all means it’s possibly publicly resolvable. You don’t want to name your internal webserver just “ws” because this resolves to 64.70.19.33.

hello started out of dissatisfaction with elementaryOS. hello tries to replicate Mac OS not how it looks but how it works. It’s not fair to compare elementary to such a new project maintained by one person.

Since it has a green PCB I doubt Apple designed it itself but rather let someone else do it for them. Looking at AirPods Pro and AirPort Extreme teardown one can see that every Apple PCB is black.

It’s not censorship if some admins (private persons) decide they don’t want it. Try discussing Windows topics in a Linux subreddit. If I had a blog with comment function and someone writes a comment I don’t like I’m not forced to publish it

Modafinil or Methylphenidate? Modafinil never made me paranoid but I know at least one person with psychosis caused by Methylphenidate. I avoid both nowadays because work isn’t worth risking health.

Internet in Germany is really bad and expensive compared to Switzerland and even to the rest of Europe. In Germany fiber to the home is maybe 1-2% of all internet connections. Most fiber providers in Germany offer only artificial asymmetric

Using ECC is a no-brainer. Even the Raspberry Pi 4 has ECC RAM. It’s not particularly expensive and only a artificial limitation Intel has introduced for consumer products.
