I read this exact advice often here on HN and I can’t help but wonder. Is the person writing it just repeating something they read? Is it just because they like the ´coding from first principles’ aesthetics? I mean let’s imagine that someon

Is there a single open source LLM model that plays in the same league as GPT-3.5 ? AFAIK the largest available models are for non-commercial use only. This is a big limitation to the ´LLMs are entering their stable diffusion moment’ narrati

Here comes the whining. Listen, nobody is preventing you from buying an Ubuntu-phone or whatever, root it, install Debian on it, play Tux Racing for 10 minutes and let it collect dust in your drawer for eternity afterwards.

Reddit users and mods are not ´volunteers’. They’re consumers of a service. If anything the ‘disguise of free money’ was only convincing consumers that internet platforms were a right and free to operate. Now the balance is shifting in the

Here’s what I found: if you’re in need to monitor your productivity and implement productivity hacks, then you’re not working on something really meaningful to you.

The idea of "greedflation" is strange, it seems to only be understandable if you start with the (unconscious?) assumption that workers cannot be the losers of inflation.

This Reddit strike is the most Reddit thing I’ve seen. I don’t even understand the issue in the first place, you can either use the official app for free with ads, or use a third party app for something like $2 a month.

Yet another “compiling” course that puts all the emphasis on parsing. Rule of thumb: parsing/lexing shouldn’t takes more than 10% of your compiler course.

I don’t get this comment. You’re trying to make a snarky comment about the morality of shareholder capitalism but clearly IA is a better allocation of resources than “more realistic AAAA video games”.

Yes, but it also tells us that if Altman is honest here, then he doesn’t believe GPT-like models can scale to near level human performances (because even if the cost of compute was 10x or even 100x it would still be economically sound).
