For all the naysayers, I think you're right to be disappointed that things weren't done better. It'll drive you to become a better engineer and spend a little (but hopefully not too much) time building things when it's y

"I think both the duct tape engineer and his opposite are both extremes to be avoided most of the time." Very true! Everything in moderation. My first job in software development was addng features or fixing bugs in Drupal sites b

True, this isn't designed to be an end all solution. Based on the number of comments and range of opinions/supplemental links, I'd say you are spot on about this being a great starting point. Personally, I found the very idea

Ditto! I see code review as an opportunity to learn from other members of the team and also to make sure I don't have to fix something tricksy in the middle of the night. I think that others are more (rationally) motivated by the desir

Videoconferencing sucks -- it's not as effective as having your coworker come over to your screen for pair programming, or talking face-to-face with your UXer. Anyone who has done any amount of remote work will realize that the OP is d

Flattr doesn't seem to be getting much traction unfortunately. I think there might be some growth potential for Coinbase to popularise bitcoin and micropayments (one can hope anyway)

This is really good point -- these buttons really ARE advertisements. Personally, I've had a hard time figuring out how to get any ads on my personal blog. The costs of hosting are very low (about $75 including AWS, a cheap SSL cert, a

I'm not sure that this is a 100% correct proposal, but it definitely seems like the right direction. To the author's point -- setting up transport encryption should be painless, not the awful experience it is today.

Definitely not a perfect solution -- all your points are definitely gaps in Strict Transport Security. However, there's still a lot of value to adding HSTS. As for #1 and #2 and #3, HSTS is a standard that can and will be more broadly

This is really cool -- also, I'm curious why Ogeon built this. It seems eerily similarly to what reem is trying to accomplish with IronFramework.io and what the good people at Nickel.rs are doing as well. I'd love to hear if this
