What is due to some health condition they are incapable of fixing it anymore. Tough! Now the law is discriminating against old people because the risk of health deterioration is higher. Let me guess, tough. Old people shouldn’t be programmi

With a fifteen million euro penalty if you don’t. Yeah nice. If only we could also make fifteen million euros. That’s clear.

That’s absolutely true. It’s more symbolic than practical.

So is that law. Small players would be discriminated against by virtue of not having the money to mitigate the legal risk.

Well stated. Another thing people can do is to disallow governments to use any software you produce by default. This doesn't change your obligations to the law but it does attach consequences to government decisions. Right now they mak

Well… by setting the clock time to sub-microsecond accuracy on a Raspberry Pi which is recording audio, I’m able to localize explosions to within a small car park from more than 3 1/2 km away.

The EU seems to be decidedly determined to destroy small players by chaining them to legal frameworks which only big players have the means to cope with. They have repeatedly shown they screw up all laws relating to tech. A small list: * co

And if they do, then I have a project that can help with that :) Raspberry Pi based ARU that would draw a bunch more power but would be able to perform local real-time elephant sound event detection to use with real time localization. http

Top quality work! Very interesting read. The use of microcontrollers in the swift unit suggests that the sound localization is all post processing, is there any value or intentions for real time sound localization? Clearly that would requir

Additionally, there's nothing wrong with what we have now. So there are some security flaws. But we have really fancy mobile phones and an amazing Internet. Now rewind to 1990 or so. Add a Cyber resilience act. At best we maybe have a

It’s time for governments to have more responsibility. The cyber resilience acts pushes 15,000,000 euros penalty to software developers. How much liability does government have for anything bad they do ? First it’s extremely difficult to ge

Every small developer should now start to ban government use. Even if they are not affected the law. To associate consequences to actions. They will never learn otherwise.

It’s time for everyone to put a clause in their licenses banning direct and transient free use of their software for governments. I have two projects and added such a clause in protest.

With New Year’s Eve approaching you still have time to get your recorders ready for some geek fun localizing all the explosions. With three or more recorders you are good to go. So long as you can hear the explosion on all recorders, with t
