Jones seems like a nut, but the way he's being taken to the cleaners and sued for comical amounts of money are just absurd. I'm not being hyperbolic saying people would be less mad at him if he had done the shooting himself. And i

If they can't pass the tests it seems like the problem solves itself. Even if they do manage to cheat their way to a degree, they won't be able to pass interviews or fulfill their role at a job.

In my experience, if I'm looking how to do something pretty standard with an API I'm unfamiliar with, it's usually correct and faster than trying to trawl through bad, build-generated documentation that would rather explain e

Creativity is the one area where LLMs are completely unimpressive. They only spit out derivative works of what they’ve been trained on. I’ve never seen an LLM tell a good joke, or an interesting story. It doesn’t know how to subvert expecta

I've lived in Saskatchewan my whole life where we don't have this law and I can't say I've seen a lot of rats in my life. Maybe if you work in unhygienic restaurant kitchens, or on a farm you might see them more. But in

As soon as someone follows "we all have the right to privacy" with "but", a springboard should pop up from under their feet and launch them into space. Unsurprising the first time I see a CBC article at the top of HN, it

Threads is unusable. I'm not sure what I expected, but of course it's just the slop-pushing, engagement-farmed, censorship-heavy auto-moderated Instagram algorithm but in a format made to look like Twitter. The only posts I see on

I'm not even a huge fan of the Donkey Kong Country games, I'd rather play Super Mario World or Mega Man X. But man, I can never get over what they were able to accomplish with that soundtrack. It's impressive on its own, not

You'll also notice this if you try to significantly slow down performing an algorithm, or try to solve a digital Rubik's cube where you have to click and drag to rotate sides.

From what I understand, people are much more into physical media in Japan. Nintendo also actually finishes their games and gets a working build ready before release so the carts actually have a game on them that don't require a patch,

There's also the fact that their games keep leaking a week or 2 head of release, so people can play them earlier and with better performance by downloading the leaked game and playing on an emulator. I think Nintendo has a case to make

It's funny the video is celebrating 20 years of Ubuntu yet the editing style and music choice feels like it should have been for the 10 year anniversary. Real early-2010s chic.
