Elm is the better language but the influence of Facebook has given ReasonML the momentum that Elm never had. Even just Dr Rauschmayer's blog and now this book blow away anything I've ever found in the Elm ecosystem.

Framework performance should rarely be an issue in normal use, by super fast you're talking about milliseconds of difference to toggle hundreds of todo item.

Not sure many people think SPAs provide a faster development cycle, individual pages are always going to be more simple. You'll get code reuse but that's trivial to get working elsewhere, you just save on redownloading shared code

Typescript is as rigid as you want it to be, you're free to loosen the types as your api demands. It really is nowhere near as heavyweight as SOAP.

In my experience giving your JSON API type information is one of the most beneficial things you can do to your web codebase.

Parcel is a neat solution, lack of sourcemaps stops me from using it for anything serious but I believe this is being worked on.

My webpack configs are a magnitude smaller than the equivalent gulp ones. React really isn't tied to webpack - babel maybe. If you're just using webpack for the basic functionally of babel automation and es6 import resolution it&#

Sure it's straightforward enough and much better than what we had before. But for a newcomer to JSX it looks odd. I'm probably just missing the reason for the syntax, we're already compiling - why can't fragments be adde

I got pretty burnt by the big changes in custom elements v0->v1. Admittedly v0 was only a proposal but v1 took a long time coming.

In my experience recruitment consultants will often try and "improve" the CVs they submit, even if it's just to fit into a template. I've seen many spelling mistake sneak in here. You may well be rejecting candidates bas

Realtime checking is trivial with the appropriate IDE extension and you can always put the type annotations inside comments - https://flow.org/en/docs/types/comments/

Huge in the context is a few hundred kb, not great for a simple webpage. https://blog.nrwl.io/angular-is-aot-worth-it-8fa02eaf64d4 You could and should AOT the client side, my point was this quickstart project doesn't.

The files still have to be parsed even if they are cached, PWAs are aimed at mobile users so this can be particularly important. If you want an native like feel your initial processing should be as light as possible.

This is really an Angular progressive web app, it doesn't do AOT minified compilation so the deployment size will be huge. Depends what you're building but for most PWAs I'd recommend a much smaller library such as Preact pro

The stampede to React has probably gone too far but it was very much a reaction to the domination of Angular which from personal experience had made web development a nightmare. React proved you didn't need a huge overbearing framework

Really like the idea of Flow but doesn't look like IDE support is there yet? This is the killer feature of types in Javascript for me - not sure I'd adopt it until then.

Not sure in which field your friend works but I'd say things are no longer like this, most medium to large firm resent paying for agents so put their jobs up on their websites and encourage applicants. Pretty much go to any major firms home
