Note that "short lived objects" and "stack allocated objects" aren't exactly the same set. Common Lisp has a dynamic-extent declaration, which can be used to stack allocate [1]. Go and Java implementations perform e

I'm not a fan of the usual uses of S-expressions in data formats, but for quite the opposite reasons. People seem to have a thing for making up new syntax, so you can't just throw a normal S-expression parser at the problem, and b

I don't think everyone shares _my_ dreams, which mostly don't involve Smalltalk images, but this seems quite feasible. And, from experience, making languages interoperate is a hassle, so "written in different languages"

Arguably, they are an OS-level feature, in the form of OS threads and your favourite task manager; but it is more expensive to run a very large number of OS threads, compared to async tasks or green threads. Per Dan Ingalls [1], an operatin

Author here - I don't think this is an issue. If you don't use submatching, you can just compute the minimal DFAs and compare them to test for equivalence, and you don't even need negation. Thus, introducing negation can'

The use of persistent data structures can make concurrent programming easier, which allows for better use of many cores. Functional programming can also scale to many computers in distributed systems, e.g. in Erlang.

SICL is still an implementation of Common Lisp, and not of a new programming language (give or take some additional features, such as first-class global environments). That said, there is some overlap between the authors of SICL and the aut
