How old is this article ? From the content this looks pretty old, like India having 25 states etc.

Twitter had a Q1 revenue of $436 million. Doesn't it make it a $X0 billion business or am I missing something ? The main concern to investors is primarily the growth and their ability to warrant a premium price on the stock.

This if the first time I have heard of neovim. Can you elaborate a bit more on the pros and cons ? The neovim site had this: Is it ready to download and run now with all the features? No. Although some features are a work in progress, Neovi

Most companies have a Right of first refusal clause embedded in the options agreement effectively limiting selling shares of private companies even after exercising options. If they are RSU's , I am assuming they can't be sold at

I would be greatly interested to know what it means for later employees who had RSU's since this effectively might set back the IPO dates by at least a few number of years. How does this effects them ?

They might look related in terms of various "idioms/building blocks" used but they cater to two completely different programming languages i.e. Objective C/C++.

I haven't gone reading the article in detail. What happens to the streaming providers like Netflix etc that use Silverlight ? Would they stop working too ?

May be. I read the article twice but had the exact same reaction on both occasions that somehow we used a "big" bat to kill a small ant when some easier solutions would have sufficed. Though, it's looks very likely that I mig

This is pretty interesting especially for cities which have mainly a single software giant to know sort of how much an engineer in that company makes. Like for example Kirkland ( google ). There might be others like Menlo Park (Facebook ? )

I won't be surprised if someone writes a generic lambda library which given a cloud provider generates relevant mappings/code. Will take care of some of the vendor lock-in concerns ?

I am more worried about the DNS caching issue. The 2+ hosts failing should not be much of a problem if you have a separate health checker host which does nothing except gathering heart-beats from all the hosts in your fleet and updating the

It amazes me to find the number of competitors who use AWS as a platform while competing with Amazon. Certainly tells something about customer service at Amazon.

Precisely, this is the same query I had when I glanced down the post. It will be great if the author or someone from the team respond to the various trade-offs and why they did not go ahead with Kafka ?
