I suggest a new rule of thumb: if the data can fit on a micro SD card [1], then it's smaller than a thumb, so it can't be big data. ;-) [1] https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-microSDXC-Memory-Adap...

FWIW, I have long wondered where all the plastic trash in the ocean was coming from. A recent video [1] from Mark Rober was very enlightening: the trash from poor communities (without collection services) gets picked up by rain and wind and

The game begins after you enter the building. I think you're supposed to "activate Ian's memories" using a port in the control room.

I've been watching the Hummer conversion project from JerryRigEverything. It's a great series because he's not an expert on EVs, but he's competent with tools. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxkPuEmIX4U&

For most people in the US, taxation is already conducted at the source through estimated withholdings. Filing is how they get tax refunds. It's a clever scheme that seems to make people actually happy about income tax.

The concept of abstraction is simple and clear when you think about programming as primarily the act of teaching other people (future maintainers, other contributors, and my forgetful self) rather than writing instructions for a computer. A

I own a copy of Factorio, yet I never play it. Whenever I think about playing Factorio, I think what I really want to do is emulate biology, not industrial machinery. I want a game that lets me alter genomes slightly and try out several bra

In fact, I would call it a hyper-dimensional helix. :-) With each new iteration (or rewrite), we're often expanding in a conceptual dimension we couldn't realistically reach or even imagine before.
