I was reacting to the very direct and unqualified statement that who a person follows strongly indicates their values. If you’re just using social media for entertainment, I don’t care who you block or how. But perpetuating the idea that “f

I’ve spent 20+ years in tech in roles ranging from IT to engineering at west coast and midwest companies and this thread is the first time I’ve heard “nuke and pave”. At the places I’ve been, systems got “wiped” or “re-imaged” most commonly

That probably depends on what you do with your computer. If you regularly clone git repos and run code you didn’t write or run unsigned apps from untrusted developers, it’s probably a good idea to scrutinize the connections that code is mak

I think the key word in the guidelines is “generally”. Exceptions seem to be made for the deaths of major figures, massively consequential events, etc. The “hide” button was made for this situation IMO.

Even decently fast glass won’t do a good job of capturing drones at night unless there’s a significant amount of ambient light. And telephoto lenses with the range you mention with fast apertures are not exactly cheap. A 600mm F/4 goes

The correct thing to do is to turn on your turn signal and wait for a safe opportunity to move to the right. But in most circumstances, if you’re trying to find an opening to move right, that’s still an indication that you’ve been hanging o

Ahh good point. I was thinking about “machine plays itself repeatedly until it gets good” aspect of AlphaGo Zero and my brain jumped to brute forcing, but agree that’s a misnomer.

Why not both? There are a myriad of reasons to be concerned about the military adopting this kind of tech. If it's reasonable to be upset at the military, it seems equally reasonable to be upset at entities that enable the military. I
