Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater. We can still measure how quickly new (average) developers become proficient, average team velocity over time, and a host of other metrics that tell us if we are increasing or decreasing

Selling eternal salvation to the poor will always be easier than selling another support tool to a procurement person spending someone else's money and probably with one eye on a new job.

Does anyone consider FAANG to be startups? I'm confused by your comment.

> seems like saving face matters more This is sadly always the case. For everything. We'd rather let people die (e.g. Challenger) than admit any fault or delay to fix a problem.

Best: what it takes to do a great job. Level of detail, thought before action; how to have a productive debate. Worst: some people will put all their effort into the performance of working but never actually work. You risk your own job call

I've been using Alacrity/Sway for at least that long, and it's been perfect. Maybe I have a low end machine. How does it misbehave on Wayland?

It's never your job to empathize with your manager. They get paid more to manage you. If your manager needs coddling, you're managing them. Or you're being a friend; but as a subordinate they are responsible for enabling you,

Wow if you're real, I'd love to have worked for you. Typically managers don't do the other half of what you do: they want critical surprise issue fixed yesterday, and with no caveats; you better still be available for marketi

That's always the case with study vs experiment. If you didn't control for all the variables but one, you can't make a conclusion about cause. I think the honest thing to do is to include alternate hypotheses; or at least men

Just to clarify: you think it's fair that less than 20% of what you pay to Spotify goes to artists?

That's fair. There is also a category (I'm thinking musical instruments, sports equipment, vim) that grows with you. You might miss out (or worse, quit guitar) because you were too cheap to ever figure out what you were missing.
