Sorry if the point was unclear: I was only suggesting that the analysis of the problem seemed intentionally shallow.

Slavery isn't always racist, by the way. Sometimes it's religious or nationalist. Since we're talking about context, it's good to understand the enormous range of people who could be offended by seeing slavery references

Why not "trunk"? Seems like the obvious choice to me. * it's a tree structure, trunks are the "main" branches of trees * trunk was used commonly in svn before git stormed the scene

Imagine technical debt, but on a societal scale. Haven't you had to fix some code; or organizational process/workflow if you're not an engineer; where the root cause was layers below the symptom?

To me: pro-status-quo, in particular with regards to policy changes that increase racial equity. Edit: "racial justice" would have been a better choice than "equity".

This is a great answer that's totally orthogonal to the issue at hand, so I love it. No matter how you read OP, staying out of internet arguments is a good way to preserve friendships, if that's your goal. I'm going to hit

I think it's a misunderstanding that led to a reveal (edit: which actually reinforces OP unintentionally; at least that's my reading); not sure which side the downvoters are on. This is fascinating.

But you can't just ignore the reason... and "the state" created ways to protect intellectual property (at least in some significant part if not entirely) because creators wanted it. You can't ignore the fact that most c

How do you figure you're entitled to watch everything that's ever been released? There's no precedent for that. Even taping with a VCR was in the gray area. You had to buy every movie individually, and that was really just

The "weird variables" may have to do with the various changes in manufacturing over the years. "Tube screamer" refers to at least 10 different units. Maxon, Ibanez, TS9, TS808, and zillions of clones.
