I used to think the same before my work company issued us macs. The fact that you have to purchase and install third party software for things which are either inbuilt in modern Linux DEs or come as simple small plug ins is crazy. The lack

I second this workflow. Firefox has much better tools for bookmark management but are not too discoverable. I'm writing an extension that autosuggests tags based on page content.

This is how every other browser does it too. I'd be more alarmed if my browser had an inbuilt antivirus.

It's quite funny that we share the host names Helium and Caesium. My Linux machines are radioactive because I tinker with them a lot and am bound to reinstall every few months.

This doesn't seem to solve any issues that markdown has and also fails to see how fast most modern Markdown implementations are. Using an unmaintaned 5 year old perl script for benchmarking is ignorant.

They still suck compared to what Last.fm recommends me. Also the fact that Spotify uses implicit feedback instead of explicit like Last.fm pisses me off. I'm constantly left asking what the algo would make of my actions.

If you use VSCode, there's a great extension called GitLens and GitHistory Log. The combination of them makes browsing repository histories, resolving conflicts and tracking changes really easy and fast.

That's much better than what the parent wants. Almost always whenever I write any script almost 25% of the time is spent ensuring it doesn't break due to spaces or special unescaped characters.

The Vim extension now uses neovim for running all ex commands. I guess we'll see some progress into embedding neovim into another editor.

I've had good luck with academic articles too. And yes, video and image search both give better results too and present them in a nicer manner with better tools too.

That is a very good question for someone new to the field and the answer is really well detailed. Honestly, as of right now the discussion there is more enlightening than here.

But then there's the issue of cost. Tuning performance on the software side only costs time and expertise but not money. And management doesn't really want to spend money unless you tell them they are going under within a week.

I agree. Facebook either needs to allow more fine control on what we want to see (education updates, work updates, photos but no text statuses) or improve it's algorithm so that a new comment on a month old content doesn't make it

Cover Art Archive is an amazing database and I try to contribute as often as I can. I have been able to find entire sleeves including lyrics, short anecdotes etc. for a lot of obscure music I have.
