And all the code pens are also slow. Between clicking the "run" button and the actual script running there's somewhat of a 3 second gap. Which kind of puts the opening paragraph into question: > I’m passionate about image

I do, that's why I don't bother making any compliments. I just keep it polite and formal.

Thanks for all the tips about how to walk over eggshells without breaking them. I'll just take the path that has no eggshells on it.

Yea, that's what you say. Someone else will have different standards of what counts as a compliment or unwelcome advances, etc. I personally just never engage with work colleagues in those terms. Keep everything formal and polite. If

No. This is only true if you have a script you run once an hour or so. If you have a server side application that you hope to be successful then the code will be running all the time and you will pay the price literally because cloud hostin

The only reason python has numerical libraries (e.g. numpy) is because they are written in C.

Sometimes you have no choice, for example, on the browser. But if you're writing server code, I think choosing an interpreted language like Python/Ruby is the single worst mistake you can do.

Remember the context here. The idea is "premature optimization is evil". A lot of people often abuse the quote and then conclude "Caring about performance is bad" which is a complete non-sequiter and not the originally i

I think it's the opposite. Choosing python in the first place is mostly for fun and giggles. People want to switch away from python because of all the pain they feel from it.

Writing in a fast compiled language is not premature optimization. Premature optimization would be something that makes the code more complicated and more difficult to follow but produce better performance. Writing the same code in a fast c

What is soundness, exactly, and how is Typescript unsound? It seems like a useless academic term that doesn't work so well in the real world, maybe?

No, it will not be a complete failure when you are careful about what you include. It will be a complete failure when things get so hairy with so many layers and failure points that you can't tell what's going on anymore.
